First-Year Leadership Council

First Year Leadership Council is an introductory program designed to get incoming freshman involved on campus. Throughout the year, the FYLC program is designed to introduce a total of 60 freshman to UT with a leadership-development focused program by engaging them with different aspects of SGA and it’s role in the broader UT community. On top of this, these students will have the opportunity to attend a variety of programs put on around campus, while also having avenues to work with the Undergraduate Student Senate to produce meaningful legislation that will enhance the freshman experience.  Members will have the opportunity to work with administration to advocate for changes on behalf of the freshman class as well. The skills gained from FYLC will prepare these students to be engaging leaders in the UT community, whether that be by continuing to serve within SGA or to take their ambitions to other areas on campus. Contact Vice President, Mark Hancock, at sga2@utk.edu with questions.
