Torch Night: A Farewell to Thee

The Student Government Association invites the graduating class to Torch Night: A Farewell to Thee, a ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of seniors at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Torch Night: A Farewell to Thee is a newly renamed graduation tradition. Graduating seniors will symbolically receive the Torch of Service, pledging to serve both the university and their community as responsible and loyal alumni. Participants will receive a commemorative gift from the Office of Alumni Affairs. Guests are welcome, but seating is reserved for graduating seniors because of the need for physical distancing.
First Ceremony

Wednesday, May 5, 8 p.m.
Ayres Hall Lawn
Graduating seniors, wear your cap and gown and meet on Ayres North Plaza in front of Ayres Hall at 7:15 p.m. for cord pickup and processional lineup.
Second Ceremony
Torch Night: A Farewell to Thee
Thursday, May 6, 8 p.m.
Ayres Hall Lawn
Graduating seniors, wear your cap and gown and meet on Ayres North Plaza in front of Ayres Hall at 7:15 p.m. for cord pickup and processional lineup.

We recommend graduating seniors wear their cap and gowns. It is not required.


We recommend graduates park in Lot 9 across from Neyland Stadium as there is limited parking on The Hill.


Guests are welcome, but seating is reserved for graduating seniors because of the need for physical distancing.
