TITLE: A Bill to Provide the Pride Center a Permanent Opportunity to Speak at Orientation

Whereas, the University of Tennessee and New Student and Family Programs Office allow several offices and student organizations to present at orientation, and
Whereas, the UT Pride Center already has a footprint at orientation by having a presence at tabling events, and
Whereas, this footprint could be improved upon by allowing the Pride Center to have a special interest session on the second day of orientation, and
Whereas, the University of Tennessee has a growing incoming freshman class each year that contains people of the LGBT+ community, and
Whereas, these students need to be aware of the provisions available to them through the Pride Center including support, resources, and a community space, and
Be it hereby resolved, that the UT Pride Center have a permanent presence at orientation by being allowed a Special Interest Session on the second day of orientation, and
Be it hereby resolved, that appropriate changes to orientation materials represent this inclusion of the Pride Center’s presentation, and
Be it hereby resolved, that the inclusion of the Pride Center at orientation will make a positive stride in UT’s commitment to diversity.
