Whereas, the Tennessee FOCUS Act restructured the membership of The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees.

 

Whereas, the Tennessee FOCUS Act requires the Board of Trustees to appoint a non-voting, Student Representative to serve a term of one year.

 

Whereas, the Student Representative has a voting role on the Academic Affairs and Student Success Committee.

 

Whereas, the Tennessee FOCUS Act states: The student member shall be selected as soon as practicable for the initial appointment and, for all subsequent appointments, no later than May 31 of each year.

 

Whereas, the Board of Trustees has yet to appoint a student to serve in this role.

 

Be it hereby resolved, The University of Tennessee 2018-2019 Undergraduate Student Senate requests the Board of Trustees to make this appointment as soon as possible to ensure student representation in its decisions.
