Student Health Clinic
Establish a walk-in clinic within the Student Health Center much like a Walgreen’s Minute Clinic. Its purpose would be to help students treat sudden illnesses and minor injuries.
Student Season Tickets and Large Group Seating at Football Games:
Increase the number of group seats at football games to unlimited so large groups of friends and organizations can sit together at every football game.
Increased Dining Options:
Increase meal equivalency options during the weekend. We also want to explore the idea of PCB extending their hours on Saturdays.
Work with area business owners and UT Dining to allow students to use Dining Dollars at their restaurants. UPDATE: Since rejected, we are now working to allow restaurants to accept AllStar account funds.
Good Samaritan Rule:
Meet with Division of Student Life and UTPD to protect students who seek medical attention for someone who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol; even if the student who seeks the attention has been participating in a similar activity.
Adding an A+ to the Grading Scale:
Meet with the Provost to determine the viability of adding an A+ to the grading scale to counter the minus system.
Lobby For One Free VolCard Replacement:
Institute a policy that allows every UT student one free replacement of a lost card during their undergraduate or graduate career.
Using Your VolCard Account in New Ways:
Create a system that allows students to purchase tickets for major on-campus events such as football games, Volaplooza, Clarence Brown productions, and major Greek performances like LipSync and Allsing with the money already available on their VolCard.
Additional Parking Pass Option:
Create a Commuter pass that allows commuiting Fraternity and Sorority members to park in the Fraternity Park and Sorority Village lots.
Dining Contract Flexibility:
Create a policy that provides students with a 72 hour window to cancel their meal plan after it is purchased.
New Recycling Drop-Off Points:
Establish a point on campus for UT students and community members to drop off their recycling at no cost.
Brita Filter(s) in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building (HSS):
Lobby for one of the first filters allocated by the Student Environmental Initiatives Fund be in HSS.
Scantrons in POD Markets:
Add scantrons to the POD stores' inventory for the convenience of students.
Parking Information in the UT App:
Information: http://bit.ly/1fL2TQ3 Expand the UT App to include a parking component which would list every parking lot and would give students the capability to click on the lot in question for information. This information would include (but not be limited to): the primary type of lot (staff, commuter, non-commuter, fraternity, or sorority), what time students with valid parking passes could begin parking in it if it is not their primary lot (if students are not allowed to park in it, that would also be noted), and if students with valid permits could park there during events free of cost.
Out-Of-State and Transfer Connections:
Work with the Office of New Student and Family Programs and the Office of the Undergraduate Admissions to organize and create an SGA sponsored event during Welcome Week for all out-of-state and transfer students to meet and greet.
Initatives still in progress from the 2012-2013 SGA Administration:
Install a FedEx box in Presidential Courtyard.
Reinstitute the freshmen roommate survey upon admittance to the University.
Establish ATMs at Laurel and Sorority Village
Establish Rollover dining (If you do not use all of your meals in one week, all or part of your meals will roll over into the next week)
Ensure the establishment of Green Spaces in Presidential Courtyard as well as other areas on campus.
Help promote/host open forums for Laurel Hall, Sorority Village, and Fort Sanders Area Residents with both City and Campus Chiefs of Police to address safety issues and concerns
Implement the Wednesday before Thanksgiving as part of the Holiday break.
Assist in creating an inclusive atmosphere for all students.
Create the option of preferred football seating choices (i.e. shaded sections, second level, front row).
Create an online system to keep the members of the Student Government Association Accountable
Implement Office Hours for all SGA Executive Members
Create online discussion boards
App will integrate myUTK, Transocial (UTK bus tracking system), UTK Directory, Blackboard, and Facility Services Report.
Create a one-stop location for students to find out information about courses and professors. This website will also host course syllabi, past distributed grades, access to MyUTK, and the UT Bookstore for class registration and textbook purchasing.
Ensure the currently proposed academic changes as outlined by the Academic Policy Committee are congruent with the wishes and desires of the student body and subsequently in their best interest.
Redesign DARS to make more simple, interactive and user friendly.
Ensure that the study day before finals week is not to be used for organizational or university meetings in which students are required to attend.
