Campus Clean-Up Sunday

The Student Government Association's Campus Beautification Committee will be hosting a Campus Clean-up Sunday, Nov. 8 from 1-3 p.m. The event will begin on the second floor of the UC Plaza. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided along with food from various local restaurants. Come out and help bring in a great end to the great UT tradition of Homecoming Week!

SGA Student Senate now has open seats in Humes Hall*, Massey Hall*, and the College of Social Work*. If you are interested, please fill out the online application at sga.utk.edu under Online Applications. Lastly, email SGASENATE@UTK.EDU or come into the SGA office on the 3rd floor of the University Center to set up an interview.

The Student Government Association Student Senate is currently accepting applications for open Senate seats.

Currently, Massey Hall and Humes Hall have open seats.

Senate is a great opportunity to get inVOLved in SGA, represent your peers, and tackle the issues of the student body.

If you are interested, apply on the SGA website (www.sga.utk.edu). After filling out the online application detailing your basic information and why you would like to represent your college or residence hall, you will be requested to interview with the SGA Senate Chair if the seat requested is available.

Get Involved Survey

The Student Government Association has created an online involvement survey to help students become more engaged with campus life. The Get Involved Survey lists participating student organizations by category, and students can choose the groups they are interesting in learning more about. Periodically, each organization will receive a list of email addresses of those interested students, and they can then send out recruitment information. Our goal is to get students more connected to the University of Tennessee by getting them involved with campus organizations that appeal to them. Take the survey at http://sga.utk.edu/inVOLvement/

Mayor's Advisory Board Applications Due Monday

SGA & The City of Knoxville are now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 Mayor's Advisory Board. Apply at http://cityofknoxville.org/boards/sab.asp.

Mayor Bill Haslam formed the Student Advisory Board to improve interaction between the University of Tennessee student community and City government. The UT Student Government Association acted in partnership with the city to create this board. The board meets with City leaders to connect students with today's issues and to inform city officials of their concerns for Knoxville. Applications for the 2009-2010 Mayor's Advisory Board are due this Monday, September 14th. Be a part of Student Services - Student Services is composed of 9 committees that focus on the many different facets of university life. The committees coordinate and implement activities on campus and in the community. To find out more about each of the 9 committees and learn about some of their annual projects, visit the "Student Services" section of our site. All students are welcome choose a Student Services committee they wish to be a part of. Click on the "Online Applications" link to apply online. Apps are due September 11, 2009. Apply for Student Senate - Student Senate is a group of 70+ students representing both academic colleges and campus residences. Throughout the year, Senate seats may open up if a senator is no longer able to represent their constituency. Walk In My Shoes

Walk in My Shoes is a program organized by SGA's University Services Committee in which students are able to show administrators what an average day is like for them. Administrators will be following students around campus and accompanying them to classes on April 6-7, 2009. To apply, just visit the Online Applications page. SGA Gets "Express Lane" PCs in The Commons

The Technology Services Committee has worked with OIT and The Commons to install a new "Express Lane" in the North Commons. The new Express Lane, open now, has two PCs for UT students to use when they are in a hurry and may not be able to find an open computer. The Lane offers students 15 minutes to check their email, print, etc.. SGA would like to thank Ms. Teresa Walker, OIT, and the library staff for their work on this project!

Letter Writing Campaign Extended!

The Government Affairs Committee has extended their a letter-writing campaign concerning the budget cuts at the UT. The new deadline for letter submission is March 30th.
